You will love this easy tailgating dessert! Made with chocolate and peanut butter, this buckeye dip is the ultimate sweet treat for fall, summer, holidays and more. Make it in a few minutes, it’s that easy!

This weekend marks my favorite season of the year, college football season!  I was born and raised in Akron (the home of Lebron James).

And though I didn’t go to Ohio State it didn’t keep me from visiting, going to games or making buckeye candies.

Easy to make, this buckeye dip is filled with peanut butter, cream cheese and lots of chocolate chips. Serve with graham crackers, teddy grahams or apples. It's the perfect super bowl recipe!

The first game is on Monday night ( but we’re not going to mention the opponent – wouldn’t want to jinx ourselves!).

Ohio’s state tree is the buckeye, the university’s mascot is a buckeye, and if the state has a candy it is certainly the buckeye.

The buckeye candy is a round ball of peanut butter mixed with powdered sugar and dipped and almost, but not completely, covered in chocolate. This is my twist on the Ohio famous treat made to share.

The dip is made with peanut butter and powdered sugar and generously sprinkled with min semi sweet chocolate chips. You should absolutely make this recipe for your next game-day celebration (buckeye fan or not) because it’s so easy to whip up and a great recipe to set on the table and dunk and dip.

I love to serve it with graham crackers, but you can always serve it with teddy grahams or even apples for a lighter option.

In Ohio there are unwritten rules – you always complete the O-H chant (I-O) and you never give up on your team, even if it is the Browns.

One of the most famous Ohio State theme songs is Hang on Sloopy. Which reminds me of the time I used to do synchronized swimming. Yep, you heard that right.
Name the sport and I’ve likely tried it. So every time I hear that song at games it takes me back to my childhood.

I would write my own (stellar) choreography and then practice for months for the show at the end of summer. To this day the show is still the first Friday of August once the sun has completely set with about 75 girls running around in black bathing suits, covered in glitter and with French braid pigtails. Get me in a swimming pool and I’ll be sure to show you a move or two!

So whatever your upcoming party, activity or gathering, make this easy and delicious dip. Everyone (even non Buckeye fans) will love it!

I’ve been meaning to make this for a long time. Finally made it and took it to work today. Everyone loved it! Even my boss that doesn’t eat sweets much, loved it. Thanks for sharing your recipe. I do have to change the name of it though………. a Michigan fan. lol 😁❤️

Lol!! Fair enough! Thanks for taking the time to share. Glad you like it!

Why is there butter and raw flour in this recipe? Every other recipe for this dip uses cool whip! It also got hard as rock in fridge.

    1. Sandy says:

Mine did to. Need to know what to do with it to soften it back up?

      1. Molly Thompson says:

You can let it sit out at room temp to soften up!

I made this for my friend’s baby shower last week and it was a huge hit!! This and deciding to hire professional carpet cleaners right before the party were definitely the reasons the event was such a success haha. All jokes aside, this dip is delicious! Will absolutely be making this again!!

  5. Joanne says:

I’m guessing the reason why you microwave the flour is because people shouldn’t eat “raw” flour. By microwaving the flour it kills whatever is “bad”?

  7. Kay says:

Can u sub corn starch for the flour?

    1. Molly Thompson says:

No you can’t sub corn starch but you could try a gluten-free flour like Bob’s Red Mill 1:1 flour. You can check out our healthy cookie dough recipe that’s similar too and it uses almond flour.

  8. Carmen says:

Raw flour can carry Salmonella, is there an alternative you would suggest?

    1. Molly Thompson says:

Yes, you can leave it out or heat-treat it by microwaving the flour for a minute! I will update that!
