Tools for Baking Cookies

These are the tools I have on hand to make the best cookies. Stock your kitchen with these for the best cookies every single time (affiliate).

  1. Use room temperature ingredients. Room temperature butter should sit out for 1-2 hours and stiff feel cool. Here’s how to soften butter quickly.
  2. Chill the cookie dough, especially if the recipe calls for it. Most chocolate chip cookie dough recipes require some chilling.
  3. Use parchment paper or a silicone mat on your cookie sheet.
  4. Measure your ingredients correctly. Use a kitchen scale or follow the spoon and level method. Too much flour impacts the baked cookie.
  5. Bake time may vary. Use an oven thermometer to confirm your oven is accurate.
  6. Add extra chips to the tops of the cookies right out of the oven.
  7. Bake cookies one batch at a time on the middle rack of your oven.
  8. Store cookies in an airtight container or freezer bag. Freeze cookie dough or baked cookies for up to 3 months.
